Sporting: Ryder Cup 2006
The complex staging requirement needed to stage the 2006 Ryder Cup opening ceremony provided Intension with an interesting challenge. Beginning with a set of covers for a 25m Serious Stages space building, Intension fabricated a white arched fascia and a novel hinged "golf ball" structure cover large enough to open up and reveal the orchestra on stage.
This unusual cover was manufactured from white PVC polyester and comprised 2 "skins", the outer printed with the image of a golf ball complete with Ryder Cup logo and dimple effect whilst the inner skin was printed with the image of a globe.
Intension was involved in the manufacture of the fabric elements, with much of the innovative design work and also assisted with the installation of the staging.
