Staging: The Asylum

Intension was delighted to win the order to produce what has been described as "probably the best tent in the world"! This structure formed a multi-purpose touring venue for the Kneehigh Theatre Company. It can be built as seen or built as a low or high dome in the tradtional Dome Company mould.
The 1200M2 Asylum tent, 12M high, consisted of 2 geodesic domes bridged by a cathedral-like fabric atrium. Capable of housing 2 or even 3 stages and seating 1000 people, this was mobile architecture on a grand scale.

The fabrication period was spread over spring and early summer 2010 and presented very few manufacturing problems. It was however a multi-disciplinary contract which tested both the HF welding and sewing capabilities of our company.
